Opening night of the Estonian Presidency of the Council of the EU on 3 July


The period of Estonian Presidency of the Council of the EU from 1 July until 31 December was opened on 3 July with the concert of the Estonian Piano Orchestra followed by a reception at the Royal Castle in Warsaw.

Estonia is the guest of honour at the Festival of Musical Gardens from 1-29 July 2017.

The Estonian Piano Orchestra featuring Ms Piret Väinmaa – Ms Kristi Kapten, Ms Kai Ratassepp – Mr Mati Mikalai, Mr Johan Randvere – Mr Margus Riimaa and Ms Reet Kopvillem-Ruubel – Ms Piret Habak performed the following programme:
Jaan Rääts, Concerto for eight pianists and four pianos op.126
Urmas Sisask , Piano Symphony„Sounds of the Universe“ op. 88
Modest Mussorgski/Rein Rannap „Pictures from Exhibition“

On 10 July Estonian Television Girls`Choir performs choir music from Franz Biebl, Arvo Pärt, Veljo Tormis, Ēriks Ešenvalds and others under the conducting of Aarne Saluveer.

Contemporary music vocal ensemble Vox Clamantis led by Jaan-Eik Tulve performs a programme "Looking In" consisting of compositions by Sven Grünbergi on Monday 24 July. The performance is accompanied by an instrumental ensemble featuring Liis Viira (harp), Sven Grünberg (keyboards), Mihkel Mälgand (contrabass) ja Vambola Krigul (percussion), visual additions by Riho Västrik.
